Zion Baptist Church with the Reverend Calvin Miller and the Reverend Don Echols officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bartholomew was 96 years of age and was born on a farm near Boley, Oklahoma on July 4, 1912 to Rev. Clem Claude Thompson and Sadie B. Nelson Thompson. He was the 4th son of a family of 6 children, 5 boys and 1 girl. At the age of 12, Bartholomew and his family moved to the Progress Community, east of Langston where he attended Frazier Elementary School. Along with his father, Bartholomew built a small rural church and school in the Progress Community by transporting rocks by horse and wagon from the nearby Cimarron River. Parts of the foundation still stand to this day.

Later, Bartholomew attended high school and college in Langston, Okla. He grew up learning to farm and studying the Word of God. He enjoyed agriculture, farming, and later acquired a skill as an automotive technician.

Bartholomew loved his wife of 63 years and was an example of a dedicated husband and father. He and Juanita Brown met in 1938 and were married on March 28, 1942. They left the farm and moved to Stillwater in Jan. 1948. To this union were born two sons, Powell Nathaniel and Caleb Lynn. Bartholomew worked as an automotive technician for 30 years. He was employed by Grimsley's Frazier-Kisser, Ward's Buick, Forrest Barnett's Nash, Bob Bellatti's Rambler and Russ Harvey's Buick. Bartholomew retired in June 1978.

He enjoyed working on cars, fixing things, gardening, and Mt. Zion Baptist church as he was one of the founding fathers. Bartholomew was a Sunday school teacher, treasurer and deacon of his church investing his life mentoring and teaching the importance of following Jesus Christ and studying the Bible. He valued the importance of an education, loved reading and delighted in spending time talking with people. He enjoyed life and took pleasure in watching things grow including people. Bartholomew was a man of God who believed in forgiving and moving forward with a heart of gratitude never complaining. He was a man of integrity, wisdom, and faith. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
