Lena was a daughter of Isaac Henry Goodnight and Amanda J McGahey. She was the eldest of ten known children. Lena was the wife of Osborne Dallas Couch Jr., a brother to my grandfather, Jacob Eugene Couch. They married October 18, 1899 in Dallas County.

Of the five children born to Lena and Osborne, only one lived to become an adult. Earl Lynn died at birth; Elmo Rae died at about 7 months; Callie Mable died at 1 year and 3 months; Burta Irene died at age 12. Only Zelma Mae (a twin to Elmo Rae)lived beyond childhood.

Lena and Osborne came to Zephyr in 1901 where lived almost all of their lives. I remember visiting their house many times since they lived very near my parents and his brother Jacob Eugene.

"Aunt Lena" and "Uncle Ossie" were two of the nicest people I have ever known.
