Alfred (Fred) Kelley was born in Ohio. He was the son of David and Rebecca Kelley. They had a large Catholic family. His brothers and sisters were Jacob, Nancy Jane Kelley Mierka, William Henry, James Allen, Harry J. They had nine children but only eight survived.

Fred came to Parkin, Arkansas with Henry and Mary Frances Coldren to help with the Sawmill they were building here. He lived in their boarding house and met Bertha Eldonna Coldren and they were married. They had eight children with five surviving. Harry, Henry, Ethel, Alfred and Bernice.

He died in route to a Memphis hospital with Harry Leroy from Vanndale.

He is buried in Cogbill Cemetery.
