Donald Lester Hibbs is the son of Lester Henry Hibbs and Martha Jean "Mattie" Durst. On 16 September 1939, he married Mary Gladys Pike. Together, they had nine children. In WW II, he served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater aboard the Destroyer Escort USS Presley (DE-371) as an electrician. He often joked that his main function was to keep the ice cream machine operating! He worked at the Texaco Refinery in Tulsa and retired as Supervisor of the Electrical Department.
