Elmer Wesley Jernigan, age 84, passed from this life Tuesday, July 22, at Bay Medical Center. He was born in Wausau on August 3, 1923 to Robertson Jernigan and Lillie (Stanley) Jernigan. Mr. Jernigan was self employed and worked as a carpenter. He served in the United States Air Force in World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Ernie Lou Jernigan of Wausau; one son, Lorell Jernigan and wife Diana of Chipley; three daughters: Lavelle Stevens of Chipley, Cathy Evans and husband David of Ebro, and Sharon Terranova and husband Frank of Tallahassee; one brother, Don Jernigan of Panama City; two sisters: Jaunita Finch of Homerville, Georgia and Beulah Perry of San Diego, California; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Highway 77 in Chipley with Rev. Carlos Finch officiating. Internment will follow in the Wausau Cemetery with Brown Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at Brown Funeral Home.
