Mr. Maness was the proprietor of a successful mill in Marion County Alabama. He liked to garden and when his eyesight become weak as he got older, he would garden by feel. He married Mary Ann Jones on Oct. 28, 1849 in Tishomingo County, Mississippi. They had at least nine children. After her death he married Rebecca Ricketts. Mr. Maness joined the LDS Church in 1884 and moved his second family to Utah C. 1889 settling in Mendon. Bio. by Judy Maness Jones
