Lt. Governor of Rhode Island 1885-1887. He was Harbor Commissioner 1881, and he was one of the originators and for many years a director of the Pawtucket Street Railway. He was a partner in L.B. Darling & Co., a manufacturer of high grade fertilizer, and he was also President of Pacific National Bank and of Pawtucket Gas Company. He was a member of the Rhode Island State Board of Education and erected Pawtucket's Music Hall Building.
