SHAWNEE, Okla. — Tecumseh resident Betty L. Cox, 76, Sunday, June 22, 2008, in Shawnee. On Aug. 29, 1931, she was born in Shawnee to Garner and Molly (Sturdivan) Shawn.
She was raised in Shawnee. She later lived in Chickasha for 6 years. She then moved to Unionville, Mo, where she lived for 12 years before returning to Shawnee. She attended Shawnee Schools.
In November 1948, she married Fred T. Cox in Chickasha. Mr. Cox preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1982. She was a homemaker and enjoyed life and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, Georgia Bernard and Mary Belle Walker; and one brother, Sammie Shawn. Survivors includes her daughters, Cynthia Dickison of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jana and Frank Chastain of Broken Arrow; son, Fred T. Cox, Jr. of Tecumseh; granchildren, Heather Fisher of Miami, Okla, and Jesse Dickison of Anchorage, Alaska, Kyle Fisher of Broken Arrow; brother, Jackie Shawn of Purcell.
