Volkert V. Vant is the proprietor of the celebrated "Spring Brook" garden farm of Fulton, producing and distributing the largest and most complete variety of vegetables, grown in Oswego Co.
He is the son of Fred Vant, who was born in England in 1824,he came to America in 1829,locating first in Palermo,where he remained until 1854 and then purchased a farm of one hundred acres near Chicago. In 1865 he returned to Volney, Oswego Co,NY and purchased the old Homestead near Mount Pleasant, once the home of Ephraim
Beardsley and where he now resides.
His wife was Rachel Beardsley,and they are the parents of nine children,eight of whom are living.
Volkert V. Vant born Aug 28, 1857 at Chicago and was 8 yrs old when they returned here. Acquiring the basis of a good education in the common schools, he brings into his business large experience and industry, and fairly deserves his large measure of success, his wife is Gertrude, daughter of John C Hill of Volney, children are Don 1889,Richard 1891, Max 1894 Dorothea[called Dorcus] and Fred.
