Else Bendixen Bekker was born in Fohl Township, North Schleswig, February 3, 1849. She was married to Andreas Sorensen at Kalvslund Church, Denmark, in 1876. To this union were born eight children, four died in infancy. In 1876 the Sorensens immigrated to America and came to Gardner, where they located on a farm. In 1883 they moved to a farm near Reddick and lived there until February, 1901, when they moved to their present home in Dwight, where Mrs. Sorensen, after a short illness with pneumonia, died February 27; 68 years, 1month and 24 days old.
She leaves to mourn her, her husband, Mr. Andreas Sorensen, a brother in Schleswig and four children: Mrs. Hans Lauritzen, Gardner; Mrs. Andrew Eisen, on a farm near Gardner; Mrs. Charles Lauritzen, on the home farm near Reddick, and S. Dixon Sorensen, of Dwight, also seven grandchildren.
