Mr. Andreas Sorensen, a most respected resident of Dwight for many years, passed away Sunday night at his home on West Chippewa Street, after a few days' illness, although for several years he had been in poor health. He was well known in this community and had many friends who mourn his demise.

Andreas Sorensen was born in Kalslund, Denmark, September 6, 1844. He grew up and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church and immigrated to America March 12, 1872. He remained in America four years after which he returned to the old country and was married to Miss Else Bekker, March 12, 1876. After his marriage Mr. Sorensen again returned to America. He worked in a coal mine and on the railroad near Ocoya, Illinois. Wages were $1.25 per day. He began farming on a Scully farm near Gardner. He remained on this farm seven years after which he bought a farm near Reddick. On this farm Mr. Sorensen and his family remained until in 1901 he, on account of poor health, gave up farming and moved to Dwight where the family has since then made their home. Mr. Sorensen and his wife had eight children, of whom four died in infancy. Mrs. Sorensen died February 27, 1917.

Mr. Sorensen had for several years been in feeble health. He became ill last Friday but rallied again and no immediate concern was felt for his recovery until on Saturday last he suffered an hemorrhage of the bowels and his condition became serious. The family was called to his bedside, but in spite of all that love and care could do, he continued to grow weaker until he died peacefully Sunday night, being at the time of his Death 75 years, 7 months and 3 days old. He leaves to mourn him four children: Mrs. Hans Lauritzen, Gardner; Mrs. Andrew Eisen, Gardner; Mrs. Charles Lauritzen, Reddick and Mr. Dixon Sorensen, Dwight.
