Mounds--- Anderson Andy Hale, 64, retired bus driver, died Wednesday, Wake 7 p.m. Friday and service Saturday 2 p.m., both at Snake Creek Indian Baptist Church. Bixby funeral Service, Bixby.

Mr. Hale was born July 4, 1944, at Okemah, Okla., the son of Bill Hale and Lucy Coker Hale. He died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at the Oklahoma Veterans Center Claremore Division in Claremore, Okla.

He grew up in the Seminole County area and attended Butner High School in Cromwell, graduating in 1963. He continued his education in welding at the Haskell Indian Institute in Lawrence, Kan. He served his count in the U. S. Army in August, 1966 and was honorable discharged in July, 1969. He was stationed in Kaiserslautern, Germany for 18 months.

He and Norma Miller were married Dec. 23, 2966, at Mounds, Okla. They had celebrated 41 years of marriage. They have lived in the Mounds area for most of their married lives. Andy was a bus driver for Liberty Public Schools for 18 years. He was a shop assistant at Tulsa Vo-Tech for 10. He served three terms as an Okmulgee District representative on the Muscogee Creek National Council.He enjoyed speaking his native language.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jacob Hale; four nephews; and two nieces.


Survived by his wife; one son and wife; many adopted sons and daughters; three grandchildren; three brothers; six sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held for Anderson "Andy" Hale 64, at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Snake Creek Indian Baptist Church, Mounds, Okla. A wake service was held at 7 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2008. Interment was at Snake Creek Indian Cemetery, Mounds, Okla., officiated by The Rev. Allison Phillips, The Rev. Kenneth Cooper, and The Rev. Andrew Johnson. Services were under the direction of Jack Selby.
