Zilah Adkins Davis, 86, of Rt. 1, Winfield, passed away Friday evening, July 11, at the Scott County Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Henry Adkins and the late Mary Phillips Adkins and was also preceded in death by her husband, Louie B. Davis; one daughter, Margie Bell Wright; one son, Denver E. Davis; one sister, Grace Terry; and six brothers: Walter, Francis, Hilrey, Andrew, Willie, and Robert Adkins. She was a member of the Clay Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by four daughters: Hettie J. Bushman of Cincinnati, O., Mary A. King of Pine Knot, Ky., Lorene P. Hicks of Somerset, Ky., and Priscilla R. Chambers of Oneida; four sons: Astor Davis, Jessie Davis, and Milace Davis, all of Winfield, and Bobby J. Davis of Memphis; two brothers: Herman Adkins of Nashville, and Adie Adkins of Cincinnati, O.; two sisters: Ethel Chitwood and Ruth Daugherty, both of Winfield; 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 13, at the Clay Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Howard Walker officiating. Burial followed in the Adkins Cemetery on Jellico Creek. Pallbearers were grandsons: Ervin Bushman, Jerry O. Davis, Rick Stephens, Dwayne King, Paul M. Wright, and Danny King. West-Murley Funeral Home of Scott County was in charge of arrangements.
