John Shackelford Cowdrey

Yakima -- John Shackelford Cowdrey, 69, of , died Thursday, September 19, 1991 at the Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Cowdrey was born November 10, 1921 in Oklahoma to Ambrose and Cora (Harris) Cowdrey. He had lived most of his life in the Yakima Valley. He married Wanda Ward in Wiley City on November 15, 1941. Mr. Cowdrey had been an orchardist and carpenter until his illness. He enjoyed fishing and reading Lewis Lamour's "Shoot'em up Jakes", as he referred to them.

Mr. Cowdrey is survived by his wife, Wanda Cowdrey of Tieton; his son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Delaine Cowdrey
of Naches; his daughter, Kelly Cowdrey- Foster and her husband, Tom of Olympia; four sisters, Cecil Rapp of Selah, Clara Barnwell of Selah, Lucille Naasz of Spokane and Virginia Kerl of the Yakima; and two grandchildren, Chad and Kendall Cowdrey of Naches.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Devoe and Jeff Cowdrey.

Private burial will be held at Tahoma Cemetery. A reception will be held at the family home for family and friends, Sunday.
