Minnie B. George Mallory
Minnie B. Beorge was born March 8th, 1862 in Macon county near Decatur, Illinois and died at her home near Scandia, Kansas, December 26th, 1923, aged 61 years, 9 months and 13 days. She came to Jewell county in the fall of 1870. Her parents were among the first settlers in Jewell county. She was united in marriage to James Mallory at Jewell City, August 25th, 1880. To this union were born 7 children. The oldest and the youngest have preceded their mother in death. Besides the husband, James Mallory, are Mrs. Lillie Anderson, of Republic, Kansas, Wm. R. of Topeka, Mrs. Clara Sandell of Scandia, Mrs. Florence Soder, of Clay Center, Kansas and Emerson L. who is at home. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, two brothers W.F. George of Silver Lake, Kansas, Ezekiel George of Jewell City and one sister, Mrs. Louise Hill of Forrest City, Missouri, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
She was a member of the Jewell City M.E. church, also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church of Scandia, Friday, P.M., conducted by Rev. C. E. Carpenter of Jamestown, Kansas. The body was laid to rest in the Jewell cemetery, three miles east of Jewell City.
