Art enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country proudly. On June 24, 1939, John Arthur Heiberg was united in marriage to the former Lorraine Berquist in Int'l Falls. He worked as a logger for many years and was a member of the VFW Post #9641, and Moose Lodge #1259. Art had a real passion for planting trees as he was a member of the C.C.C.'s, and also enjoyed gardening, and listening to Paul Harvey's news program faithfully every day. Although he lost his eyesight ten years ago, he continued his love of dancing.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Lars & Dagne Heiberg, wife, Lorraine Heiberg, sister, Evelyn Richardson, granddaughter, Barrie Imhof, and grandson, Peter Heiberg.
Survivors include his sons, Dennis of Littlefork, and Randy of Apache Junction, AZ., daughters, Cynthia (Wayne) Grotberg of Littlefork, Mona (Manuel) Bartolo of Coon Rapids, MN., Karla (Clarence) Olson of Embarass, MN., and Lonnie Davis of Mesa, AZ., 12 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren, brother, George Heiberg of Int'l Falls, sisters, Mildred Aronson of Zapata, TX., Esther Ludwig of Int'l Falls, Signe Hardwig of Int'l Falls, and Myrtle Constantine of Ranier, MN., and special caregivers, Corey and Ella.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 11:00 am at Green-Larsen Mortuary with flag presentation accorded by the Littlefork VFW Color Guard. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
