George Henry Heiberg, 84, died April 23, 2009 at Falls Good Samaritan Center.

George was born April 10, 1925 in Littlefork, Minn., to Lars and Dagny (Jorgenson) Heiberg and grew up there.

He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He was wounded in Iwo Jima and received the Purple Heart. He returned to Littlefork and began working for Boise Cascade in the wood room. He retired in 1975 with over 30 years of service.

George was united in marriage to Susan Halgrimson on June 21, 1958 in International Falls, Minn. In 1983, the family moved to Bemidji and then moved to International Falls in 1990 and had lived there since.

George enjoyed working in his garden, feeding the deer, hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and attended The Full Gospel Fellowship Church. George was preceded in death by his parents, brother Arthur Heiberg and sisters, Evelyn Richardson and Mildred Aronson.

George is survived by his wife, Susan; sons, Wayne (Diana), Ronald, and Paul "Skip" (Dru) Constantine Jr.; daughters, Connie (Bert) Wall, Debra Heiberg, Diane Sjolsvold, and Nancy (David) Wohlrabe; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Esther Ludwig, Signe Hardwig, and Myrtle (Paul) Constantine Sr..

Interment will be at Oakley Cemetery, Littlefork.
