He was born Feb. 1, 1942, in Nephi, to Dee and Lola Louise Yates Norton. He married Bonnie Peay and they later divorced. He married Shirley Pickup on June 2, 1994, in Las Vegas, Nev. Their marriage was solemnized in the Vernal LDS Temple on June 2, 2000.
When he was younger, Larry was a professional bull rider and raced horses. He later worked in the gilsonite mines and as a truck driver. He enjoyed making fiberglass boats and then using them for fishing. He was active in the LDS Church and served in various callings. He was an avid Jazz and Broncos fan.
He loved his family and was a wonderful husband and father. He helped raise his "little shadow," Landon. He was very good to his parents-in-law and helped anyone he could.
Larry is survived by wife, Shirley, Randlett; children, Laine B. (Valine) Norton, Bluebell; Vance (Sonja) Norton, Vernal; Jason (Jenny) Norton, Salt Lake City; Sadie Norton, West Jordan; step-children, Tracy (Darcey) Neilson, Roosevelt; Shane Neilson, Randlett; Lance (Mindy) Neilson, Roosevelt; Nicona (Johnathan) Loftis, Roosevelt; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; mother-in-law, Eugenia Pickup, Roosevelt; sisters and brother, Vickie (Doug) Peterson, Pleasant Grove; Penny (Jay) Healey, St. George; Bobbie Kay (John) Tracy; and Kine (Dawn) Hatch, Jr., Payson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Kenny and infant sister, Lola; father-in-law, Grant Pickup.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Randlett LDS Chapel. Burial in the Roosevelt Memorial Park under direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
