William J. Westwood, eighty years old died yesterday at his home. He leaves three daughters - Mrs. James W. Sinton, of Richmond; Mrs. W. A. Brown of Brooklyn, NY and Mrs. Emmett E. Dickerson and three grandchildren.
Mr. Westwood, who was born in Elizabeth City County, came to Richmond in 1860 and entering a general contracting business, won considerable prominence.
Though he retired from business some years ago, he was president of the Fairmount Land Company and a director of the Virginia Fire and Marine Insurance Company at the time of his death. He was a member of the Leigh Street Baptist Church.
Interment will be private.
