Delmar E. Grieser, 87, of Rockville died at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton, Ind.

He was a retired Sears Store Manager with 32 years of service working in Springfield, Ill., Muncie, Ind., Lowell, Ind., Logansport, Ind. and retired at Frankfort, Ky.

He was born Feb. 11, 1921 in Champaign County, Illinois to the late George M. Grieser and Lena Baecher Grieser.

His wife of 61 years, Mary LaVerne Hinton Grieser whom he married Jan. 25, 1947 in Bedford, Ky. died three hours and thirty five minutes following her husband July 8, 2008.

Survivors include one son, John Grieser and wife Karen of Belvidere, Ill.; three daughters, Mary Burkhart and husband John of Greencastle, Rebecca Forcey and husband John of Rockville, Barbara Seliger and husband Scott of Terre Haute; one sister, Edna Grieser of Urbana, Ill.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was a graduate of the University of Illinois. He was named a Kentucky Colonel and a Sagamore of the Wabash. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Rockville Christian Church and attended Immanuel Southern Baptist Church on Sunday evenings. He enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher.

Services will be 11 a.m. (EDT) at Dewey Mennonite Church in Dewey, Ill. Burial will follow service in East Bend Memorial Garden Cemetery in Fisher, Ill.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2008 at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., Rockville. A time of remembrance will be at 7:30 Friday evening. Memorials, should friends so desire, may be made to a Mission or Church of choice.
