Mrs. Bernice J. Fowler, 72, of 3722 W. Joliet Rd., LaPorte, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at noon at her home.
She was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Union Township, LaPorte County, to Herman and Ida (Rosenbaum) Bent, and had lived all her life in the LaPorte area.
Mrs. Fowler retired in 1994 as a secretary with the LaPorte Community School Corporation after 27 years, serving at Door Village School and Kesling Middle School. She was a member of Tracy Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamlet. She enjoyed gardening, yardwork, being outside and traveling.
On Jan. 27, 1951, in LaPorte, she married Carl E. Fowler, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Esther Kluska of LaPorte; and one sister, Marie Werner of LaPorte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Henrietta Harness and Madeline Bent; and one brother, Martin Bent.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Tracy Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hamlet, with Rev. Timothy Gravelyn officiating. Friends may call Thursday at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, from 3 to 8 p.m., and Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
Burial will be in Tracy Cemetery, Tracy, IN.
