Launa attended Hollins College in Virginia and the University of Alabama, graduating with a B.A. in art. She was Assistant Curator of the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, and former President of the Junior League in Fort Lauderdale, FL. As the wife of an Episcopal Priest in Charleston, she served her parish and her diocese here in countless ways. In addition to her many duties as wife of a priest, she was also a founding member of the Charleston Area Peninsula Day Care Board. She was instrumental in organizing a program at the Church of the Holy Communion for the mentally challenged. She served on the Board of World Missions for the Diocese of South Carolina. At the time of her death, she continued to serve on the altar guild, as a Meals on Wheels volunteer, and was chairman of the Outreach Committee at the Church of the Holy Communion. She was also a member of the Junior League.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Canon Samuel Chew William Fleming, former Rector of the Church of the Holy Communion, and by her parents, Frank Murray Dixon and Juliet Perry Dixon, and her brother, Sam Dixon.
