Verna E. Flora, daughter of Dr. Loren and Elma (Lyngbe) Flora, was born March 17, 1919 in Clark, SD. She grew up in Clark and graduated from Clark High School in 1937. She then attended Mitchell Business College and graduated with her degree in 1938.
Verna married Arthur Brooks in Hartington, NE on January 29, 1942. Over the years she worked as a secretary for various businesses.
Verna was a very active person who was involved with the Sunnycrest Retirement Village Auxillary, a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Village and the Bergland Center. She was also in the P.T.A, Cub Scouts and would teach Sunday school and Bible School at various churches. More than any other activity, she loved to spend time visiting nursing homes and shut-ins.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Barry (Barbara) Brooks; brother, Dr. George (Kristi) Flora; cousin, Mila (Howard) Johnson, all of Sioux Falls; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 niece; 2 nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Elma; and her husband, Arthur.

Funeral services will be Tuesday in the Faith Temple Church.
Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
