Alonzo Anderson, 84, of Smokey Junction, passed away Saturday, December 28, 1985, at Scott County Hospital following a lingering illness. Mr. Anderson was the son of the late P. H. Anderson and the late Rachel Lowe Anderson and was also preceded in death by one sister, Huldie Jane Anderson Phillips; and four brothers: Walter, Fred, Elmer, and Robert Anderson. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Baptist faith. He is survived by two sisters: Zora Sharp and Artie Nichols, of Detroit, Mich.; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Corinth Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Monday, December 30, with Rev. Carlie Duncan and Rev. Finley Hatfield officiating. The Mason Family sang. Burial followed in the Smokey Junction Cemetery. Oneida American Legion #136 was in charge of full military honors at graveside. Those serving were: Milford Burchfield, James Collins, Lloyd Goad, Curtis Marcum, Odie Posey, A. V. Stanley, James Thomas, and Bugler, Zane Roberts. Pallbearers were: Bruce Anderson, Lonnie Anderson, Raymond Hutson, Audie Phillips, Danny L. Phillips and Ed Phillips. West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida was in charge of the arrangements.
