Joseph Alcock, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Alcock, was born near Platsville, Wisconsin, October 30, 1867, and died at the home in Frederika, sunday morning, May 11. he had come with his parents to Bremer county in the year 1869. In the family were nine other children, besides Joseph. He and his sister Nellie were twins. He received his education in the district school and grew to young manhood on the farm.
On Febraury 24, 1897 Mr. Alcock was joined in marriage with Ida Cummings and to this union two sons, Lester and Craig, were born. With exception of one year's residence in Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Alcock spent their married life in Bremer county.
For the past few months he had been in failing health, and about 7:30 last Sunday morning, May 11, he passed quietly away.
There are left to mourn his death, his wife, Mrs. Ida Alcock, and one son Craig, at home; two brothers, Charles in Frederika and Thomas, nearby; several nephews and nieces, besides many friends by whom he was well and favorably known.
