OBITUARY

W.H. TOZER, 92, DIES IN DECATUR,
RESIDED IN MENARD COUNTY 50 YEARS;
RITES TO BE AT PETERSBURG

William H. Tozer, 92 year old Civil War Veteran, a former resident of Springfield, but who lived most of his life in Menard County, died Tuesday night (January 15, 1935) at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.W. Cressler, in Decatur.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'Clock tomorrow afternoon at the Christian Church in Petersburg. Interment will be made in Farmer's Point Cemetery.

Mr. Tozer, who claimed friendship with Abraham Lincoln, once conducted a grocery store in this city. The greater part of his life was spent in Menard County, where he lived more than fifty years in the same house. The last four years he lived with his daughter in Decatur.

Mr. Tozer's Civil War experiences included eighteen months' service in Company K, 106th Illinois Infantry. He was a member of the Grand Army of the Republic.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Cressler, Decatur, and Mrs. J.F. Hickey, Chickashaw, Oklahoma; five sons-F.D. Tozer, Oklahoma City; E.C. Tozer, Decatur; H.C. and A.C. Tozer, Petersburg; W.B. Tozer, Springfield; fourteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
