John W. Adams, 77, of New Bloomfield, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2008 in Holy Spirit Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 13, 1931 in Newport, to the late Harry and Carrie (Newlin) Adams.
John was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, New Bloomfield; a 50 year member and Past Master (Master in 1963) of Adams Lodge #319 F&AM, New Bloomfield; a member of Zembo Shrine; Zembo Mounted Patrol; Zembo RV Unit; a charter member of the Zembo Past Masters Club; a member of Perry-Juniata Shrine Club; New Bloomfield Fire Company; the Fireman's Club; the Ambulance Club; and an avid member of the Colorado Mule Riders Association. He was a former member of the Harrisburg Consistory. John had served on the West Perry School Board, and enjoyed snowmobile riding, hunting, and his family.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Rena I. (Berrier) Adams; 2 daughters, Julie E. Hall and her husband, Kurt of Dalton, NH, and Jennifer L. Grove and her husband, Rodney P., of New Bloomfield; 2 brothers, Galen K. Adams of Eldersburg, MD, and Gilbert N. Adams and his wife, Darlene of New Bloomfield; a sister, Janet K. Weston and her husband, Humphry of Enola; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Merle Adams and Dean Adams.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, July 7, 2008 in The Edward L. Holman Memorial Chapel on the grounds of Carson Long Military Institute, 200 N. Carlisle Street, New Bloomfield, PA 17068, with Rev. Miriam L. Nicholson and Rev. Peter H. Kuebler officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery, New Bloomfield. Viewing will be from 9-10:45 a.m., on Monday in the Chapel, with a Masonic Service beginning at 10:45 a.m.
