Undated obituary from a family scrapbook in my possession: Mrs. James Van Etten died at her home east of Tice, Monday night, January 12, 1904, aged 34 years. She had been ill only a short time with measles complicated by pneumonia. Deceased leaves to mourn her loss, the bereaved husband, four children, three brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held in Baker's Prairie church conducted by Rev. Eades, Wednesday at 11 o'clock a.m. Burial in Baker's Prairie cemetery.
