Carl Dechant, 91, Dies at Home of Daughter

Carl Dechant died Monday night at the home of his daughter, Ms. Rosa Meis in Hays, after an illness of two months which followed a fall in which Mr. Dechant broke two ribs.

Mr. Dechant who was 91 years old was a pioneer of Ellis county having come here from Russia 54 years ago. He first settled at Munjor where he was a farmer for 44 years. Ten years ago Mr. Dechant retired and came to Hays where he has since made his home.

The children survive, Mrs. Mary Schumacher of Munjor; Mrs. Katie Klaus of Antonino; Anton of Wallace; Mrs. Clementina Pfannenstiel of Munjor; Alex of Chicago; Mrs. Rosa Meis of Hays; John of Blackfoot, Idaho; Carl of Denver; Joe of Hays and Henry of Kansas City, Kan.

All will be here for the funeral which is to be at 9 o'clock Thursday at the Catholic church at Munjor.
