She was called "Mel" by her family and close friends. She was the "Martha" of the family. She baked bread to sell because the family could not live on contributions alone. If interested, the Historical Society of Iowa has a copy of this Osceola county history.
She died in Denver, Colorado, body brought back to Iowa. I do not know where she was first buried.
