The family moved to Nebraska in 1906. January 1, 1913, she was married to Edward Lanham. Born to this union was a daughter, Leona, and a son, Ralph, both of Nora.
Mary was baptised into the Bethel Church near Carleton on December 1, 1923.
On January 6, 1963, Mr. and Mrs. Lanham celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary.
After her husband's death in 1966, she lived alone until she fell and fractured her hip. Since 1974, she has made her home at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ed; brothers, George, Will, John, Charley, Cyrus, Martin, Leonard and Jesse; and granddaughter, Shirley Anderson.
Surviving are her daughter, Leona, and husband, Charlie Anderson; her son, Ralph, and wife, Ellen Lanham; grandchildren Denny and Lorene Lanham, Rhonda and Jim Itzen, Cindy and Brad Meyer and Pauline and Rolland Franzen; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Herman Hamel; sisters-in-law, Dora Hamel, Hazel Hamel, Eva Hamel, Opal Coles and Vivian Lanham and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 3, 1981, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Nora, with Rev. Janet Baernstein officiating. Pallbearers were Earl Lanham, Art Duensing, Hollis Hamel and Kenneth Hamel. "How Great Thou Art: and "Beyond The Sunset" were played by organist, Ivan Schafer. Burial was in the Nora Cemetery. Klawitter Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements.
