Stephen D. Ackles was born to James E. Ackles and Tabitha/Talitha Allegre-Street in 1869 in MO. He married Lila Isabel Rhoades on 9 July 1891 in Milan, Sullivan Co. MO.
This couple had 13 children born to them:
1. Lenna Lenore "Lee" Ackles who married 3 times: C.A. Billings, and a Mr. Brown, Harold W. Boehme. Found out that she was taken by a family member and just who that family member was is beyond me so I do not know if it was Harold or Stephen and Lila that did that.
2. Edith Alma Ackles m. 1916 in Spokane Co. WA to Frank Leroy Clift. She is buried at Arlington Municipal Cemetery, Arlington, Snohomish Co. WA along side of Frank Clift
3. Alfred Raymond "Ray" Ackles (M)1st Hannah Veronica McKalvey they divorced and she went to be with her son in California. And the second wife is Dorothy Collins and they are buried at Greenwood Memorial Terrace here in Spokane, WA.
4.Verna Viola Ackles (M)Robert Randall he is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Lake Forest Park, Seattle, King Co. WA. He died in 1946 she remarried to Charles Frederick Cape in 1947. Do not know where Verna is buried at right now.
5. Mamie Mae Ackles (m1) Joseph Wranker Jr. (M2) David A. Ely (M3)Joseph Champagne; no information as to where Mamie is buried at either nor her last name at death is.
6. Estus B. Ackles (M) Freda Wilma French in 1927 they are both buried at Riverside Cemetery, Spokane, WA
7. Lewis Clark (m1) Minnie May Chisholm in 1943 he died in 1958 just after his mother did also 1958. Minnie divorced him, but I do not know when. He married supposedly a second time but somehow I do not believe that because I find no records of this second marriage at all.
8.Millard Cecil Ackles (m1) Geneva D. Woodard 1925 divorced and by 1930 he was married to Mauna Jean (mnun) He left and went to Montana where he died and was buried by the doctor that treated him he is in Rocky Springs Cemetery, Rocky Springs, Sweetwater Co. MT. (no picture available).
9. Mary Lucille Ackles (m) Brig.Gen. Cady Richmond Bullock they are both buried at Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Franklinville, Cattaraugus Co. NY. There is a stone for Cady Bullock at Fr. Sam Houston National Cemetery that states that he is there but he isn't he is in fact with his wife and other family members.
10.Helen Marie born and died 9 months after she was born. Is buried at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery, Spokane, WA
11. James Richard Ackles born 6 Oct 1913 in Spokane, died on 7 Nov 1983 in Napa Co. CA he is buried in the National Cemetery in Los Angeles CA. I have no picture of his gravestone, still working on this.
12. Twin to James died same day (female) buried beside Estus and Freda and Doris Isabelle Ackles at Riverside Cemetery, Spokane, WA
13. Doris Isabelle Ackles b. 30 Mar 1916 d. 16 Jan 1917 Buried at Riverside Cemetery, Spokane, WA. Died of pneumonia.

Funeral services for Stephen Ackles, 85, a retired lumber inspector, will be held Wednesday at Columbia Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood. Mr. Ackles died in a hospital Saturday. He was born in Trenton, Grundy County, MO. He lived in Clarkston, Asotin County before coming here in 1922. Mr. Ackles was a member of the Oriental Lodge No. 75, F & A.M. Surviving are his wife Isabel; four sons Estus and James, both Seattle; Louis, Anchorage and Cecil Ackles, Los Angeles; four daughters, Mrs. Edith Clift, Marysville; Mrs. Verna Cape, Maple Valley; Mrs. Mamie Shirley, San Francisco and Mrs. Lydia Philpot, Saraquos, KS; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
I would just like to say that Lydia Philpot is Stephen's sister not his daughter. Stephen and Lydia are James and Tabitha's children through a second marriage. James had other children which would have been Lydia's and Stephen's step sisters and brothers (which two of them were in Oregon in 1860). The rest of the children from the first wife of James were in Missouri.
