Susanna Smith was born to Israel & Lydia Wideman Dettweiler on August 10,1888. She married William Steve Smith on January 9, 1907.
Mrs. Smith died Sunday at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility.

She was an area resident all her life and a member of the Colwood United Brethren Church. William died in 1942. Surviving are 13 children; Alvin and Donald of Caro, Elden of DeWitt, Roy of Saginaw, Mrs. Charles (Mable) Smith of Decatur, IN, John of Spruce, Richard Smith of Cass City, Mrs. Clifford (Mary) Smith of Unionville, Mrs. Paul (Rosella) Lehner of Harrison, Mrs. Alvin (Ruth) Boggs of Pine Mt. KY, William of Dunedin, FL, Fred of Birch Run, and Mrs. Peter (Pearl) Venema of Cass City; 46 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lovina Vader of Cass City, Mrs. Magdelena Goudy of Caro, and Mrs. Lillian Wilson of Flushing.

Funeral services for Mrs. Susanna D. Smith 83, were conducted from the Colwood U.B. Church by the Rev. Roger Burk with burial following in the Almer Cemetery.
