Willis Wright's headstone reads: Co K, 27 Ark Inf, CSA
The story passed down through the family is that they were preparing to travel North when his wife died just after Christmas. Barbary told them to go on after her death. After traveling awhile they reached his son's, Doc's, home at Rally Hill, Arkansas. He died there from pneumonia. Willis insisted the family continue their journey to the Washington Territory. He requested they return to bury him next to his wife, Barbary. This promise was fulfilled by his sons, Doc and Andy Wright, several years later.
