The funeral for Robert L. Wurgler, 60, of Rugby was held on Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren, rural York. Interment was in the church cemetery. He died Nov. 6, 1999 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby.
Pastor Steve Cameron officiated. Edie Wurgler was organist & Karyn Nathan was pianist. Pallbearers were Arwin Tofte, Clayton Lider, Dennis Voeller, & David, Keith & Richard Wurgler. The Anderson Funeral Home of Rugby & Towner was in charge of arrangements.
Robert LaVern Wurgler was born Feb. 22, 1939 in Rugby to Hugo & Blanche Loken Wurgler. He was raised in Twin Lake Township of Benson County & attended country school. After graduating from Maddock High School he spent 6 years with the North Dakota National Guard & worked with Patterson Lumber in Rugby from 1962-64. He was employed with Rugby Motors (now D & S Motors) until his death.
He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in rugby & a former member of the Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren, rural York. He was also a member & past president of the Rugby Eagles Aerie. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting Native American artifacts & Nascar memorabilia & was an avid car enthusiast. He earned numerous awards & achievement recognitions during his auto sales career.
Survivors include 2 sons & a daughter-in-law, Brad & Angie Wurgler of Perham, Minn. & Chad Wurgler of Fargo; 2 daughters & a son-in-law, Karolee & Steve Ondracek of Valley City & Robbi Lynn Wurgler of Rugby; 3 grandchildren; his mother of Rugby; 3 brothers & sisters-in-law, Larry & Vicki Wurgler of Fargo, Jim Wurgler & Rodney & Linda Wurgler, all of York; & a sister & brother-in-law, Connie & Jerry Long of Bottineau.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1996.
