Michael "Curly" Panaski, 82, of Coatesville, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Mary Mudry Panaski, who preceded him in death in 1990.

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Prokop and Tekla Hauryluk Panaski. Mike served in the United States Army during World War II.

In 1975, he retired from Lukens Steel Co. with more than 30 years of service.

He was a member of the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church, where he had served as vice president, assistant treasurer, trustee and bell ringer and was recently appointed church elder.

Additionally, he was a life member of the West End Fire Company, enjoyed polkas and fishing.

He is survived by a son, Michael S. Panaski, husband of Dorothy H. of Ephrata; twin daughters, Carol A. Burke of Coatesville and Cheryl A. Lafferty of Parkesburg; three grandchildren, Erin Bove, Kimberly Panaski and Matthew Panaski; and three sisters, Mary Wilkes, Alice Kopanski and Betty Clemente.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and William Panaski; and a sister, Ann Sergovic.

A burial service will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Holy Ghost Church, 392 Charles St., Coatesville.

Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, with Panakhida service at 7:30 p.m., and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the church.

Interment will be in the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Coatesville.

In his memory, contributions may be made to Holy Ghost Church Perpetual Care Fund or Building Fund.
