Some researchers believe that James Miller, born September 13, 1730 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland is the father of our Miller line. But that James Miller's wife, Elizabeth Roy, would have been 59 years old the year our John was born and while not impossible is physically very improbable.

According to the Genealogies of Virginia Families From Tyler's Quarterly Historical and Genealogical Magazine at the link below James Miller and Elizabeth Roy had only these children: James Jr., Thomas, Robert, William, Corbet, Christian, and Lucy.

According to the above mentioned book, James (b. Sep 13, 1730) and Elizabeth Roy Miller never left Caroline County, Virginia. Their children were Christian Miller 1758-1840 who married Lt. James Bankhead b. circa 1755; Thomas Roy Miller 1761-1834; James: Robert; William; Corbet; and Lucy who married William Gray of Port Royal. There is no mention of them having children named Joseph, Benjamin or John.
