Age 24, died Saturday, October 14, 1967 in Vietnam from wounds. Born January 16, 1943 in Belle, West Virginia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Bird of Belle, W. Va. He married Lawanda Jean Dye in Ypsilanti, Mi. on July 30, 1966. Surviving are his wife of Northville, Mi. his parents of Belle, W. Va; five sisters, Mrs. Robert (Donna Jean) Osborne of Euagalle, Florida, Mrs. Harold (Verna) Dawson of Lakeland, Florida, Mrs Kermit (Betty) Rogers of Newton, W. Va., Mrs. John (Vera) Williams of Diamond, W. Va., Shirley and Sharon Bird both of Belle, W. Va. ; one brother, John R. Bird of Ypsilanti, Mi.; half sisters, Mrs. Clinton Jones of Belleville, Michigan, Mrs. Roy Smith of Oakhill, W. Va.; Mrs L. G. Drake of Clendenin, W. Va., two half brothers, James Bird of Huntington, Ind., Burl Bird of Hartford City, Ind.; paternal grandfather, Mr. Henry Bird of Lizemore, W. Va., several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24 from Fidler & Frame Funeral Home in Belle, W. Va. Full military honors will be accorded to SP4 Bird in Montgomery Memorial Park Cemetery in London, W. VA. Friends may call at Geer Funeral Home until 10 tonight.
