Mary Elma Campbell, 96, passed away Friday, June 13, 2008, from natural causes at Mineral Community Hospital and Nursing Home.

Mary was born Sept. 6, 1911, in South Bend, Ind., to William J. and Martha C. Snover. She would go on to attend school and graduated from Spencer High School in Spencer, Ind.

She married Phillip E. Campbell in 1930. In July of 1938, Mary boarded the Milwaukee St. Paul and Pacific train in Chicago with two small sons to travel west to Superior to join her husband Phillip, who had found employment in the Red and White store.

She worked at the Mineral County Clerk of Court Office. She spent the rest of her life caring for her family and supporting her church. Later in life, she traveled extensively in Europe and the Caribbean. In her '90s, she joined the Red Hat Society and spent several years enjoying the ladies' company and activities. She was also a member of the Big Sky Garden Club.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son Richard Campbell; and a brother Malon Campbell; who was killed in action during World War II.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Sue Campbell and William and Catherine Campbell. She is further survived by six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Interment will take place in Superior Cemetery.
