Daughter of William Glenn Stroupe, Sr. and Estelle Virginia Womac. She married Guy Alvin Ballard, Sr. in 1952. They had one son, Guy Alvin Ballard, Jr. born in 1953. Just 3 months later Guy, Sr. was killed in Korea while serving with the US Army. He never saw his son.
In 1954 Betty married Harold Dean McAlister. They had four sons: Joey Dean (born and died Nov. 1955); Jimmy Dale; Donald Reed; and Tony Ray.
Betty loved her boys. Sadly, she would not live to see them become grown men. Just after Christmas in 1965 she succumbed to cancer leaving behind a grieving family which also inclulded her parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews.
Betty was a beautiful, kind woman with a lively spirit who loved to play with her children and nieces and nephews.
