Mrs. Anita Imogene "Jean" McKinney, 77, of Panama City, Fla. and Roswell, Georgia died Tuesday, January 08, 2008. Jean was born Dec. 16, 1930, daughter of the late Shellie and Mary Lee Phelps Oswalt. She graduated from Houston High School in 1949. Her marriage to her husband, Joe, of 26 years took place in 1950 in her hometown of Houston, Miss. A beautician and owner of Beacher Hills Beauty Salon in Atlanta, Jean raised her children and two grandsons while residing in Atlanta and later in Roswell. In 2001, Jean moved to Panama City. She was employed part-time at the Digestive DiseaseCenter where she enjoyed her work and being with friends and co-workers. Jean lived each day in the Christian faith and quickly found a home at Carlisle Baptist Church where she loved being with her Sunday School class and participating in church activities. Survivors include her children: Stephanie Sautter, Shelley McKinney and Linda Edlund all of Panama City and David "J.D." McKinney of Pine, Colorado; her two grandsons: Chris Sautter of Calera, Ala. and Michael Sautter of Vestavia, Ala.; three great-grandchildren: Calli and Joseph Sautter, Kamron Johnson; her sister: Gerry Toney of Panama City; her brother: Roland and his wife Norma Oswalt; a nephew: Rodney and his wife Teresa; a niece: Paula and her husband Ben and all of their loving children, all of Houston, Miss. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 at Carlisle Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Kuhn officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff Lord, Tommie Pitts, Daryl Richardson, Buddy Williamson, Ralph Hollister and Joe Price all of Panama City. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Ga. where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband; Joseph David "Joe" McKinney. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at Carlisle Baptist Church. Donations and gifts to Carlisle Baptist Church, 835 S. Berthe Ave., Panama City, FL 32404 or Covenant Hospice, 107 W. 19th St., Panama City, Fla. 32405 in lieu of flowers would be appreciated by Jean's family.
