MRS. R. H. TALBOT DEAD. Died, at her late home west of this city on Sunday, Feb. 17, 1895, at 10:15 p. m., Elizabeth, beloved wife of R. H. Talbot, aged sixty-four years, six months and twenty-one days. Mrs. Talbot had been ill several months, but it was not thought that death was so near. She was up town only a few days before her death and the announcement of the end was a great surprise to many of her friends. Elizabeth Evans was born in Lancaster county, Pa., on July 26, 1830, and passed her girlhood days in that region. In 1849 she was married to R. H. Talbot in Lancaster county and after living there three years moved to Henry county, Ind., where they lived two years. From there Mr. and Mrs. Talbot moved to Rochester, Minn., when there were but two log cabins in the town. After living there eight and one- half years they moved to northwest Missouri in 1864, just before the close of the civil war. They resided in Missouri nineteen years where Mr. Talbot was engaged in farming and merchandising. From Missouri they came to Cherokee county, Kansas, and have resided near Baxter Springs ever since. Mrs. Talbot was mother of eight children, four boys and four girls, seven of whom are living. She made hosts of friends wherever she lived, and hundreds will bless her memory. She was a kind and loving wife and an affectionate and indulgent mother. She will be sadly missed in the home and in the community. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Episcopal church on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 10 o'clock a. m., conducted by Rev. J. A. Young, pastor of the church, and the remains were followed to their last resting place in the city cemetery by a large concourse of friends and relatives. The bereaved husband and children have the sympathy of the entire community. ===============
