The tombstone of William Travis' daughter, Susan Isabell Travis Grissett, in the Masonic Cemetery in Chappell Hill, Texas. By the time she was born in 1831 (or 1832), William Travis had already left Alabama for Texas, but William DID actually meet her on one occasion, when his wife Rosanna traveled to Brazoria to meet him. Not much is known about Susan. She married a planter in Alabama and by 1860 had moved to Chappell Hill. She bore two children, William Barrett Grissett and Mary Jane Grissett. William Barrett Grisset was born in 1846, which means that Susan Isabella gave birth to him when she was only 14 or 15 years old. He passed away in 1858. Susan Isabella Travis died in 1868 at the age of 36. I'm thinking that perhaps she died of yellow fever because she was so young and because 1868 was such a bad year for that disease here in Texas.
