"Wednesday morning,. June 6th, the death of Martin J. Saunders occurred;, due to hardening of the arteries and heart trouble from which he had suffered for several years. Mr. Saunders was a man of jovial disposition, and good principles. He had lived in our midst over 20 years and his life merits the respect of all, which he held. He was born at Stockholm, February 7, 1848, and when 15 years of age enlisted serving three years in the Civil war. About a year after he left the army he was united in marriage with Adeline Rogers, who survives him. The funeral services were held Friday at 1 o'clock in the Presbyterian church, Rev. A, G. Bowering officiating, and amid a profusion of unusually beautiful floral pieces the remains were interred in the Union cemetery. With the widow the following children survive. him, Mrs B. B. Rich, of Woodstock, Vt; Mrs Ralph Abbott, of Lebanon, N. H.; Mrs Lloyd Watkins, Mrs. W. H. Humphries of Detroit; Mrs. A. C. Farr, of this village; Mrs. William Cobb and Willliam Saunders, of Boston, Mass.; all of whom were here except Mrs. Cobb and brother, who were unable to come on account of illness. Other relatives and friends from out of town were: Ralph Abbott, of Lebanon, Ni. H.; William and Frank Humphries, of Detroit, Mich; Earl and George Pellsue and Edward Cramer, of North Stockholm; Mr. and Mrs. John Francis of Brasher Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Ar- thur Arquitt, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Arquitt and Mrs. Lewis Russell, Of Canton."
