Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Mrs. Garner entered into rest on Sunday, August 18, 2002 at Willis-Knighton North Medical Center after a short illness. She was born in Hughes Springs, TX on March 20, 1924 and has lived in Shreveport, LA for 56 years. She was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class at Brookwood Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, "Meemaw," and friend. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed taking cruises with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bessie Stone and one brother, Marion Stone.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57-1-2 years, Herman E. Garner, Sr.; one daughter, Peggy G. Eberhardt of Shreveport, LA; one son, Herman E. Garner, Jr. of Lafayette, LA; one sister, Lessie Faye Hebert of Dallas, TX; and two grandchildren, Chad DeWayne Eberhardt of Shreveport, LA and Martin Billeaud Garner of Lafayette, LA.
Pallbearers will be Chad Eberhardt, Marty Garner, Michael Stone, Chuck Stone, Scottie Shaw, and Bob Russell.
The family would like to thank Scottie Shaw, Dr. Richard Fincher and nurses of Willis-Knighton North I.C.U. for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, LA or the American Cancer Society.
