Mrs. Sallie Columbia Warnock Montford, age 103, Bethany Home for Ladies, Vidalia, Ga., died Saturday, August 10, 1991 in Meadows Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
She was a retired store owner and operator, a native of Montgomery County and the daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Margan Adams Warnock. She had lived in Vidalia for the past 6 years and was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Mrs. Montford is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Sarah Langston, Dublin, Mrs. Tommie Nell Williamson, Vidalia, and Mrs. Inez Leach, Vidalia; one sister, Mrs. Lucy Hamilton, Vidalia; one half-sister, Mrs. Elmer Spivey, Vidalia; one foster sister, Mrs. Claudia McDonald, Vidalia; two half-brothers, Eddie Warnock and J.W. Warnock, Tarrytown; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Montford were held in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church on Sunday, August 11, 1991 at 4:00 p.m. with Elder Ralph L. Riner officiating and assisted by the Rev. C.B. Easterlin. Interment was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Earl Witt, Eldred McDonald, Fenmore Fortner, Ralph Calhoun, Dorsey Hart, and Earl Burns.
