The seventh of nine children by John H. Sprouls and Stella Camp Sprouls, Mabel, born 28 June 1913, grew up on a farm east of Georgetown along the Little Vermilion River and the Indiana border. When Alma, second child in the family, married Ray H. Martin, Mabel spent a good deal of time on their farm west of Georgetown, helping Alma with her three boys, Richard, Donald, and Paul, and churning the butter. Four years after Alma died from measles while "with child", Mabel married Ray on 21 Feb 1934. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Mound Church of Christ where she is laid to rest now--in view of the farm and home she lived in for so many years. As years wore on, more winters were spent in Jensen Beach, Florida and eventually, after Ray died and she became more frail, Mabel lived at Americana Care Center where she died 25 Nov 1996.
