Anthony C. Arnold, the son of Arnold and Sophia Gable Arnold, was born at Orrville, Ohio, November 18, 1861. He spent his early years there, marrying Miss Emma Jane Hauenstein, November 20, 1884. Twelve children were born to this union: Gladys Leata who married Charles Drummond; Edwin, not married; Clara Hattie, who married Ross Melius, later married Edgar Hale; Merle, who married Esther Darling; Effie Belle, married William Drummond; Clarence married Doris Johnson; Forrest married Iva Morrow; Stella married Edgar Barnhill; Emma, never married; Hazel married Donald Mason; Harry married Gladys Funk; and John Franklin, who succumbed in infancy.
He came to Nebraska with his family in 1901 and settled in the Craig and Lyons area. His brother, Peter Willard Arnold, came to Nebraska in 1885 and had homesteaded near Craig. He persuaded Anthony to do the same. All lived in that area four years and decided to seek their fortune near Berthold, N.D. Eleven years later, Anthony moved his family back to Nebraska, living at Wayne, and later at Randolph, Nebraska.
At the time of his demise, July 5, 1930, they lived on a farm northeast of Lyons for four years.
