In Loving Memory of Lorenzo Copeland Sr., Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather Lorenzo was born on June 4, 1936, in Lawton, Oklahoma to Dave Copeland and Nettie Brown.

On Wednesday afternoon June 11, 2008, Lorenzo Sr. answered the Master's call to lay all his burdens down and go home to an eternal resting place. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age.

He was united in Holy Matrimony on July 26, 1959 to the former Bernadine Tyler. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Mrs. Bernadine Copeland; three sons: Lorenzo Copeland, Jr., David Bernard Copeland, and Lyndon Earl (Sandra) Copeland; one daughter: Doriena Susette (Woody) Longmire; ten grandchildren: Damion Terrell (Gwen) Copeland, Shawntel Tenish Copeland, D'Shawn J. Copeland, Avier Davión Thomas, Katherine Themel, Monica Renée Longmire, Sagan Ariel Copeland, Alana Del Sherri Copeland, Tiana Rianne Longmire, and Neeve Emesé Copeland; one brother: Tommy Copeland of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one sister: Emma Ruth Copeland of Philadelphia Pennsylvania; three great-grandchildren: Hakeem Antonio Stewart, Ayanna D'nae Copeland, and Amir Diamanté Copeland.

You were a husband, friend, father of our children, and the love of Bernadine's life. They spent nearly fifty years together. They knew each other inside and out. Through good times and hard times, God always touched their lives and saw them through.

He was lovingly called by family and friends "Lo," "Papa Lo," "Pops," and "The Governor." In the words of his children, he was: "always one who made you laugh at yourself, while trying to be serious, extraordinary or simply the most complex, strong, inspiring, courageous, wise, devoted, funny, creative, supportive, loyal, passionate, soft and light as a feather, yet hard and unwavering, as stone, the hardest working man I've ever known."

Physically gone, but forever present in every life he touched. He is deeply loved, honored and sorely missed, by all of us. Your Children, Lorenzo Jr., David, Lyndon, and Doriena. A Visitation will be held 12 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Shrine of Remembrance.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses. Inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Rose Gardens.
