A graveside service for Claire June Newman, 80, will be held Friday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. at Eastside Memorial Cemetery in Minden.

Mrs. Newman died Aug. 11 at her Wellington home.

She was born in Mobile, Alabama June 20, 1921, to Isaac and Hazel Mitchell Ogletree.

A Wellington resident for more than 17 years, Mrs. Newman enjoyed crocheting, doing needlepoint, feeding the wild birds and rabbits and is remembered as a fantastic cook. She was a devoted and caring homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Newman, of Wellington; sons, Patrick Rumsey, of Fort Bragg, California, and Richard Newman II, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter, Sandra Valerie, of Santa Rosa, California; and brother, Aubrey Mitchell, of Louisiana.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary handled arrangements.
